Rights defenders compare timing of disclosure murders of Dugina and Politkovskaya

Amid the FSB's report on the rapid disclosure of the murder of Darya Dugina, human rights defenders have recalled the still unsolved murders of Anna Politkovskaya, Natalia Estemirova and Boris Nemtsov.

Darya Dugina, a daughter of the Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin, died on August 20 when her car exploded in the Moscow region. On August 22, the Russia's FSB reported that the murder had been solved. According to the FSB, it had been prepared by Ukrainian special services. President Vladimir Putin has decorated Darya Dugina with the Order of Courage posthumously.

"It took two days to find the killers of Darya Dugina, while for 2733 days they are looking for the organizers of the murder of Boris Nemtsov; for 4786 days they are looking for the organizers of the murder of Natalia Estemirova; and for 5798 days they are looking for the organizers of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya," Alexander Cherkasov, the board chairman of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"** liquidated by the court, wrote in the caption to the photo posted on the Facebook*.

Anna Politkovskaya, known for her articles about the war and human rights violations in Chechnya, was shot dead in Moscow on October 7, 2006. The court found Lom-Ali Gaitukaev to be the customer of the murder; he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Anna's relatives and colleagues are sure that the real customer of her murder has not yet been disclosed.

Natalia Estemirova, an employee of the Grozny office of the HRC "Memorial"*, was abducted on July 15, 2009, taken to Ingushetia and killed there.

Boris Nemtsov was shot dead in Moscow on February 27, 2015. On July 13, 2017, the court found the natives of Chechnya Zaur Dadaev, Anzor Gubashev, Shadid Gubashev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhaev guilty of Boris' murder and sentenced them to prison terms from 11 to 20 years.
