Two persons are still missing after explosion in "Surmalu"

Fifteen out of sixteen casualties of the explosion in the "Surmalu" shopping centre in Yerevan have been identified. Two persons are still listed as missing, the Armenian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 14, there was an explosion in a fireworks warehouse located in the "Surmalu" shopping centre in Yerevan. After the explosion, a strong fire started, a part of the building collapsed. The bodies of 16 dead were found and extracted from under the rubbles.

Two people are still listed as missing, the "News-Armenia" has reported, citing Armen Pambukhchyan the head of the Armenian MfE.

He has added that relatives of the Russian woman earlier reported as missing contacted her and it turned out that "she underwent surgery under different conditions," and is in the hospital.

The death toll is the same – 16 people, of which 15 people have been identified. "If the last casualty is identified, one person will be considered missing," Mr Pambukhchyan has concluded.

According to the MfE, the explosion injured 62 people, including children, who were hospitalized in different medical centres of Yerevan.
