Four residents of Ingushetia charged with terrorism

The case of residents of Ingushetia, two of whom are accused of plotting terror acts in Sunzha, and two of aiding terrorists, has been brought to court.

According to investigators, two residents of Ingushetia had joined the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS)*, and sworn allegiance to its leader. Investigators believe that the defendants were engaged in making explosives and explosive devices, as well as were preparing to blow up and set fire to the buildings in Sunzha, where law enforcement bodies are located.

Two other residents agreed to help them in finding places to set up a camp, storing weapons and explosives, and planning crimes, investigators believe.

The inquiry into the case against the four residents of Ingushetia is over, the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported today on its website. Two were charged with preparing to commit a terror act. Two others have been charged with aiding and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. The figurants are under arrest, their case has been sent to court, the report says.

Let us note here that the maximum penalty under these articles is twenty years in prison.

*By the decision of the Russia's Supreme Court, the organization was recognized as an extremist one; its activities in the territory of Russia are prohibited.
