Advocate reports Daud Kuramagomedov's grave condition in Kalmyk SIZO

Daud Kuramagomedov was severely beaten up and is in a depressed psychological state; however, medical care was rendered to him only 10 minutes before the visit of his advocate, Snezhana Muntyan has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 8, the "Gulagu.net" human rights project reported that more than a hundred colony inmates were beaten up in revenge for the murder of a prison warden in IK-2 (Corrective Colony) in Kalmykia. According to Vladimir Osechkin, the project leader, two convicts who are accused of attacking the prison staff were tortured. Aza Alieva, an advocate, has visited one of them, Magomed Atimagomedov, in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) and found him in an extremely grave condition – he was tortured, severely beaten up and poured with boiling water, forcing him to sign the necessary testimonies. Atimagomedov told the advocate that Daud Kuramagomedov was also tortured.

On August 12, Snezhana Muntyan, an advocate, visited her client, Daud Kuramagomedov, at the SIZO in Kalmykia, the "Gulagu.net" project has informed.

According to Ms Muntyan, the Kuramagomedov's condition "threw her into shock." "Terrible cuts, bruises, abrasions over his entire body. Terrible marks on his hands and wrists from handcuffs, right to the flesh; narrow, blood-stained eyes," she said.

The advocate also said that, when asked about medical care, Kuramagomedov replied that it was provided only 10 minutes before her visit – they gave some painkillers, they also anointed the burn site. "A completely huge burn on his stomach; he, like the client of my colleague Aza Alieva, was poured with boiling water," she said.

According to the advocate, Kuramagomedov told the officials of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) that the testimonies recorded in his case are untrue, since he didn't give them and couldn't do that, since at that time he was beaten up. Snezhana Muntyan has added that Kuramagomedov is in a very depressed state.
