Nagorno-Karabakh announces partial mobilization

Today, after the aggravation of the situation on the line of contact with Azerbaijan, the President of Nagorno-Karabakh has signed a decree on partial mobilization.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that today, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan has announced that a soldier of the Azerbaijani army was killed during a shelling attack. According to the MoD of Azerbaijan, the fire came from the territory where the Russian peacekeeping contingent was temporarily located, in the direction of the Lachin District. The Azerbaijani army used unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) on the line of contact, and as a result, a military man of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Army was killed, and 15 other militaries were wounded, included one in severe condition, the Ministry of Defence Nagorno-Karabakh reported.

The decree on partial military mobilization has been signed by President of Nagorno-Karabakh Araik Arutyunyan, the press service for the administration of the leader of the unrecognized republic reports today. Mobilization starts on August 3.

Today, in his interview to the “News.Am” portal, translated from the Armenian language by the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent, Ombudsperson of Nagorno-Karabakh Gegam Stepanyan has stated that the situation in the Martakert, Askeran, and Shusha Districts of Nagorno-Karabakh remains tense.
