Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia outline their positions at meeting in Tbilisi

Ararat Mirzoyan, the head of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has pointed out that the OSCE Minsk Group should take part in settling the Karabakh conflict. Djeikhun Bairamov, his Azeri colleague, has emphasized the need to fulfil all the points of the statements signed with the participation of Russia, including the withdrawal of Armenian troops.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 15, Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliev, stated that Russia had failed with its promise to ensure the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Nagorno-Karabakh in line with the agreements of November 10, 2020.

The OSCE Minsk Group on Karabakh settlement has stopped its work on the initiative of the USA and France, but Europeans treat the statements made by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia as the basis for resolving the remaining problems, Sergey Lavrov, the head of the Russian MFA, has stated.

Minister Mirzoyan has emphasized the importance of solving humanitarian problems, including the release of Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) and clearing the fates of the missing people, says the Telegram channel of the Armenian MFA.

Minister Bairamov has also called to clarify the fates of about 4000 missing Azerbaijanis.

Russia did not take part in the summit of Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders; and this may mean that an attempt is being made to oust Moscow from negotiations, Akhmet Yarlykapov believes. A Brussels' attempt to seize the initiative is evident, but the Armenian-Azeri border delimitation is hardly possible without Moscow, Arkady Dubnov and Alexander Krylov have noted.
