FSB reports detention of members of IS* unit in KChR

The court has sent into custody 11 people detained in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) on suspicion of involvement in a terrorist organization, the FSB has reported.

Eleven members of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, have been detained in the KChR, the FSB's Public Relations Centre has informed.

The detainees are citizens of Russia; they are suspected of involvement of KChR residents in terrorist activities, as well as in promoting terrorism on the Internet. During searches, 10 civilian firearms, a Makarov pistol, a sawn-off hunting rifle, three grenades and a large amount of ammunition were confiscated from the detainees.
