Kadyrov reports formation of "West-Akhmat" battalion

The new battalion "West-Akhmat" has been already staffed by residents of Chechnya. It will subordinate to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ramzan Kadyrov has announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that four military battalions will be formed in Chechnya, namely: "North-Akhmat", "South-Akhmat", "West-Akhmat" and "East-Akhmat", which will be staffed "exclusively with Chechen guys," Ramzan Kadyrov has promised.

The decision to form the battalions was Kadyrov's initiative; and it strengthens the position of Kadyrov people in the country's military-defence hierarchy amid the special operation in Ukraine, military experts have noted.

The head of Chechnya has stressed that the first battalion was manned by "worthy sons of the Chechen people."

Kadyrov is regularly reporting about sending detachments of volunteers from Chechnya to Ukraine, including residents of other Russian regions. On June 25, he announced the departure of another group of volunteers to Ukraine.
