After start of payments, "Borjomi" worker return to work

Bosses of "Borjomi" factories have begun paying salaries and wages to the strikers; and they resumed working, Giorgi Diasamidze, the chairman of the Georgian Trade Union of Agricultural, Trade and Industry Workers, has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that workers of two mineral water bottling factories located in the town of plants in Borjomi went on strike on May 31. They demanded better working conditions and the reinstatement of their laid-off comrades. On June 21, the strike was officially over after the strikers managed to achieve most of their demands.

"We've agreed with the company bosses that they'll pay salaries for both April and May 2022. Today, the payments for May are already underway; therefore, people decided to resume working," Mr Diasamidze, the head of the above trade union, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Zaza Gelashvili, a deputy chairman of the "Borjomi" trade union, has noted that they managed to agree with the company bosses that they will compensate workers for the strike period. "The company has agreed to pay workers for that period. Actually, this is money for half of May and the second half of June, when we were on strike," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
