Azerbaijan claims shootout on Armenian border
From the border area of the Vardenis District, Armenian militaries shelled the positions of Azerbaijani soldiers located in the Kelbadjar District, after which a return fire was opened, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are periodically blaming each other of shelling. In particular, on June 1, the Azerbaijani MoD stated that Armenian militaries had shelled the positions of Azerbaijani servicemen deployed in the Tovuz and Kelbadjar Districts. On the same day, the Armenian party refuted this information.
In the evening on June 2 and last night, Armenian militaries shelled, by using large-calibre weapons, from the territory of the villages of Yukhari and Ashagi Shordja in the Basarkechar District (the Vardenis District of the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed near the villages of Zeilik Yellidja of the Kelbadjar District, the Azerbaijani MoD has reported.
The Azerbaijani militaries opened returned fire; there were no wounded or killed persons among them, the MoD has added.
