Yerevan: activists' march turns into clash with policemen

Pashinyan's opponents have marched along Yerevan streets and tried to break into the government building through the police cordon. Oppositional MPs have accused law enforcers of provocation, recalling their right to unimpeded entry into state institutions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since April 25, the Armenian opposition has been holding disobedience actions, demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan. On May 28, opposition supporters held a motor rally from Aparan and Sardarapat and a march in Yerevan. They were supported by the participants of a large-scale action held in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Earlier, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, the coordinator of the protest movement, announced the claims of the opposition, according to which Armenia should support the right of Nagorno-Karabakh residents to self-determination and international recognition and exclude the option that Karabakh could become part of Azerbaijan, the "News-Armenia" reports.

Today, the oppositional MPs demanded to let them into the government building, but policemen said that a governmental official would come down to them. Opposition supporters have treated such behaviour as disparaging and tried to break through the police cordon, resulting in a clash with law enforcers.
