Residents of Izberbash complain about systemic problem with water supply

The 35-kilometre water pipeline to Izberbash is worn out and must be completely replaced to solve the problem with the water supply to the city, as Izberbash has been facing the problem with the water supply in the summer and spring for 12 years already, local residents note.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in August 2021, residents of Izberbash complained that there had been no water in some parts of the city since early July. On April 25, residents of the city again announced the long absence of water and recorded a video message to the republic’s authorities requesting them to help solve the problem with the water supply. Today, it has been reported that more than 60,000 residents of Izberbash were left without water supply as a result of a water pipeline break.

Akhmed, one of the authors of the video appeal to the republic’s authorities, has told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the situation with the water supply to Izberbash has remained extremely difficult over the past two weeks.

According to Akhmed, the problem with the water supply has not been solved for 12 years already. “All this time we have been suffering because of the lack of water. And for the last three years, we do not see water supply for half a year,” noted the resident of the city.

He believes it is the republic’s authorities who can solve the problem with the water supply to Izberbash. “The pipe that runs from Kaspiysk to our city was built in 1974. It is already practically unusable. Every year, they are patching it, patching, and patching, but that does not make problems less important. The pipeline should be replaced completely. It is about 35 kilometres of pipes. And it can be done only by the decision of the leader of Dagestan. Except for him, no one can decide on that,” the resident of Izberbash explained.
