Dagestani law enforcer detained after killing driver on "Kavkaz" Highway

A criminal case under articles on murder and abuse of powers has been initiated against an employee of the police division for the Karabudakhkent District, who had mortally wounded the driver from his service firearm during a chase. The policeman has been detained, investigators have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 25, it became known that in Dagestan, a policeman opened fire from his service firearm on the car driver, who refused to perform the policeman's demand to stop. The driver died in hospital.

Investigators have opened a criminal case against the above policeman from the Karabudakhkent District under Part 3, Article 286, (abuse of power), and Part 1, Article 105, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder), the Investigating Branch for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has reported.

According to investigators, on April 24, at about 9:30 a.m. Moscow time, the suspect was patrolling the territory of the Karabudakhkent District. "On the 'Kavkaz' Federal Highway, clearly going beyond his service powers and in violation of the current legislation, in order to stop the car by causing mechanical damage thereto, he fired one aimed shot towards the driver of the Mercedes Benz car, who twice ignored the demand to stop," the above Branch reported on its website in the evening on April 25, adding that the policeman has been detained.
