Yerevan: activists start collecting signatures against changing Nagorno-Karabakh status

Nver Kirakosyan and Arthur Avagyan, who are on the fourth day of their hunger strike in Yerevan in protest against the attempts to change the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, have gathered nearly a thousand signatures of their supporters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 17, Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the "Airenik" Party, and his supporters announced a round-the-clock protest action in Yerevan. Messrs Kirakosyan and Avagyan have joined them and went on a hunger strike aiming to draw people's attention to the problem of Karabakh status. The "5165" Party staged a street march.

On April 13, the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, announced the calls of the international community to "lower the bar" on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. According to political analysts, the Karabakh's autonomy within Azerbaijan will result in exodus of the Armenian population from this territory and protests in Armenia.

Nver Kirakosyan and Arthur Avagyan started collecting signatures against changing the Karabakh status. "We demand not to cede our vital interests," the text to be signed states.

The activists have noted that they will continue their hunger strike until thousands of representatives of the independence generation stand next to them.

According to hunger-strikers, their health condition is normal; doctors examine them daily.
