Makhachkala townspeople react favourably to pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev

The two solo pickets in support of the journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, accused of financing terrorism, were welcomed by residents of Makhachkala. According to Magomed Magomedov, one of the picketers, only one citizen doubted that a solo action could solve anything and demanded not to distract people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Dagestani journalists are regularly holding solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the arrested journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) outlet.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev together with Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charity fund, and Kemal Tambiev, an activist, were accused of financing terrorism. Gadjiev insists on his innocence; his colleagues treat his persecution as pressure on him.

On Monday (April 18), the first picket was held by Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik". He demanded freedom for Gadjiev and an immediate end to persecuting him.

The second solo picket demanding freedom for political prisoners was held by the journalist, Idris Yusupov. He noted an increased interest in solo pickets among townspeople.

According to Magomed Magomedov, the reaction of passers-by to the picket in support of Gadjiev was quite active; Magomedov was also supported by drivers of the cars passing by.
