CEC of South Ossetia schedules second round of presidential election for April 28

Today, the Central Election Commission of South Ossetia has announced the results of the first round of the voting. Alan Gagloev won 38.55% of the votes, and 34.95% of voters supported Anatoly Bibilov. The second round of the presidential election will be held on April 28.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 10, the first round of the presidential election in South Ossetia was held, and Alan Gagloev and incumbent President Anatoly Bibilov advanced to the second round. The opposition announced its support for Alan Gagloev.

According to the final protocol released by the Central Election Commission (CEC), after 100% of the protocols had been processed for the presidential election held on April 10, Anatoly Bibilov, the current president of South Ossetia, gained 9706 votes (34.95%), Alan Gagloev, the leader of the “Nykhas” Party, gained 10,707 votes (38.55%), and the turnout in the election reached 73.97%. According to the CEC, 2592 people (9.33%) voted for Garry Muldarov, 3434 (12.37%) voted for Alexander Pliev, and 822 voters (2.96%) supported Dmitry Tasoev, while 510 voters (1.84%) voted against all of the candidates, the information agency “Res” reports today.

Today, Emilia Gagieva, the head of the CEC of South Ossetia, has reported that the second round of the presidential election will take place on April 28.
