Rostov citizen detained after trying to paint over symbols of special operation in Ukraine

The resident of Rostov-on-Don, who poured paint over the letters Z and V on a garage, was kept overnight at the police station.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 16, a resident of Krasnodar, who painted, by using a paint can, a swastika on a banner with the letter Z found in the territory of the "Eternal Flame" memorial complex, was arrested for 15 days. After a conflict with the owner of the car, on which the letter Z was pasted, Maxim Overin, a Krasnodar activist, was fined by 100,000 roubles under the article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The above resident of Rostov-on-Don poured red paint over the letters Z and V on a garage in Sovietsky District, after which he was detained by policemen, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* reported on April 13. Policemen were called by a resident of a neighbouring house, who noticed what had happened, the report said, adding that the detainee was taken to the police station and was kept there overnights pending the trial. The particular charges against him are not specified.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) explained that the Latin letter Z on Russian military equipment, which is engaged in the special operation in Ukraine, means "Za Pobedu" (For Victory). The letter V, which is also used to mark the military equipment, means "Strength in Truth" and "Mission Will Be Fulfilled", the "Lenta.ru" reported on March 3.
