Women and children evacuated from two Karabakh villages

The Azerbaijani armed forces violated the line of contact in the Askeran District of Nagorno-Karabakh, women and children were evacuated from the communities of Parukh and Khramort, the information headquarters under the government of Nagorno-Karabakh reported.

On March 8 and 10, the village of Khramort was shelled, including from mortars, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh reported. One of the villagers was injured, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Nagorno-Karabakh reported. Azerbaijan called the actions of its militaries near the village consistent with the declaration of November 9, 2020. On March 23, the head of the Khramort community reported that about half of the families had returned to their houses, there was no shelling attacks, but the Azerbaijani military continued to subject people to psychological pressure.

On March 23, the MIA of Nagorno-Karabakh accused Azerbaijan of “humanitarian terrorism” in connection with the cessation of the gas supply. Today, Yerevan and Stepanakert have hosted actions demanding the resumption of the gas supply to the houses of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The situation on the line of contact with Azerbaijan has escalated, the information headquarters under the government of Nagorno-Karabakh reports. For security reasons, women and children of the village of Parukh and the neighbouring village of Khramort were evacuated.

The “Artsakh24” reports with reference to its source that the Karabakh authorities intend to hand over the border Armenian village of Parukh to Azerbaijan in exchange for the resumption of the gas supply.

Negotiations with Baku regarding the resumption of the gas supply are still underway with the support of Russian peacekeepers, the government of Nagorno-Karabakh reports.
