Tbilisi: seven activists detained at action in support of Ukraine

Participants in the action in support of Ukraine, who also demanded to join the anti-Russian sanctions, threw toilet paper at the police. Seven activists were detained, including five members of the "Shame" movement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that rallies in support of Ukraine are held in Georgia every day; the participants also demand the resignation of Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, for refusing to support sanctions against Russia. On March 6, Elene Khoshtariya, the leader of the oppositional "Droa" Party, and six other activists were detained in Tbilisi.

Among other countries, Georgia condemned the special operation in Ukraine. The European Union (EU) and the United States have imposed large-scale sanctions on Russia.

At another such action held in Tbilisi on March 7, law enforcers detained several activists, the "News-Georgia" reports.

The participants of the action demanded from the authorities to introduce a visa regime for Russians, ban the work of Russian media in the country and close the sky for Russian air carriers.

According to Lasha Djokhadze, the head of the patrol police, the demonstrators were detained for violating the public order and resisting the police, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.
