UN: 227 Ukrainian civilians killed in shelling attacks

At least 227 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and 525 have been injured during the military operation of the Russian troops in Ukraine, the UN High Commissioner reports. Ukrainian rescuers voice information about 2000 killed civilians.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 2, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that the Russian troops had established control over the city of Kherson. Since the beginning of the military special operation in Ukraine, 498 Russian militaries have been killed and 1597 have been injured, the Russian MoD reports.

On the evening of March 2, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported that at least 227 civilians were killed and 525 injured in Ukraine since February 24.

“Since 4:00 a.m. on February 24, 2022, when the military action of the Russian Federation against Ukraine began, until 12 a.m. on March 1, the UN Human Rights Office registered 752 civilian casualties in Ukraine: 227 killed and 525 injured,” the TASS quoted the OHCHR as reporting.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine estimates that 2000 civilians have died since the outbreak of the hostilities, but the OHCHR notes that this is inaccurate data, the “Euronews” reports late on March 2.
