European Party of Armenia calls on Russia to stop war in Ukraine

At a rally in front of the Russian Embassy, members of the European Party of Armenia demanded to stop the aggression in Ukraine. The participants of the protest action supported the decision of the Armenian authorities not to consider the issue of independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 21, Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Stepanakert positively assessed the decision and noted that Nagorno-Karabakh also deserved international recognition. The issue of recognizing the independence of the republics of Donbass is not on the agenda of Armenia, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reports.

The European Party of Armenia organized a protest action in front of the Russian Embassy in Armenia against the war in Ukraine.

Tigran Khzmalyan, the leader of the European Party of Armenia, said that the protest action was directed “against the war and aggression of Russia as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine.”

“We, the Armenians, ourselves experienced a tragic war in 2020, and this is now happening in Donbass. It should be clear to us that Russia’s ally is Azerbaijan,” Tigran Khzmalyan said.

The leader of the European Party of Armenia added that Armenia should be close to the civilized world and stand up for peace and European values.

According to Tigran Khzmalyan, the participants of the protest action want to show the whole world that there are people in Armenia who oppose the war and the Russia’s imperial ambitions.
