Prison tern of Azerbaijani journalist, Polad Aslanov, reduced by three years

The Supreme Court (SC) of Azerbaijan has partially satisfied the complaint lodged by the journalist Polad Aslanov. His sentence was reduced from 16 to 13 years in prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 6, 2022, Aslanov went on a hunger strike, demanding a review of his case. On January 18, Aslanov's wife was received by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, who took the case under his personal control, but Aslanov continued his hunger strike. He complained about the physical and psychological pressure in the colony. On January 25, on the 20th day of his hunger strike, Aslanov stopped it at doctors' insistence. His health condition worsened after the hunger strike, his wife said on January 29.

Elchin Sadygov, an advocate, said that the defence would "continue legal steps aimed at restoring Polad Aslanov's rights."
