Ibragim Yangulbaev denies involvement of his relatives in 1Adat Movement*

According to Ibragim Yangulbaev, his father and mother, as well as other relatives, are not involved in the 1Adat Movement” and are not its leaders. He pointed to contradictions in the Chechen authorities’ accusations against members of the Yangulbaev family.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 20, Zarema Musaeva, a spouse of retired federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev, was forcibly taken to Grozny by law enforcers. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov accused the Yangulbaev family of supporting terrorism.

Earlier, a video has been posted on the Internet, in which Ibragim Yangulbaev talks about his involvement in the 1Adat Movement*. “I am a founder and chief administrator of the people’s 1Adat Movement*. As you can see, I am not in Europe, but in Russia,” Ibragim Yangulbaev says in a video posted on the ChechnyaToday.com page on Facebook.

“My family members are not the leaders of the 1Adat Movement*. Both my brothers, my father, and my mother are not the leaders of the Adat Movement*, and they have no influence on it,” Ibragim Yangulbaev said in a new video message.

He also pointed to the contradictions in the accusations voiced by the Chechen authorities against the Yangulbaev family. “The Ramzan Kadyrov’s propaganda does not know how to present us. First we are extremists who want to destroy the Chechen people. Then we are members of the LGBT movement who propagate it. Either we are engaged in the information business, or we insult religion. There are too many conflicting labels,” Ibragim Yangulbaev noted.

* In July 2021, the Zavodskoi District Court of Grozny granted a claim of the prosecutor’s office by recognizing a number of posts of the 1Adat Telegram Channel as extremist and also by recognizing the Internet resources of the 1Adat Movement as prohibited.
