Azerbaijani oppositionist Tofig Yagublu challenges in court prosecutor's conclusion about beating

Tofig Yagublu, an Azerbaijani oppositional politician, has demanded from the court to cancel the conclusion of the prosecutor's office that he had traumatized himself at the police station.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, the Yeniavaz.az placed a post on the Facebook about the investigators' version that Yagublu had injured himself at the police station, which caused users' ridicule. After refusal to delete the post, the court fined the owner of the outlet, while the defence announced its intention to appeal against it.

On December 1, 2021, the police disrupted an action in support of Salekh Rustamov, an imprisoned activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who was on a hunger strike demanding his release. Among the detainees was Tofig Yagublu, a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) of Azerbaijan. He claims that law enforcers severely beat him up while in custody.
