Disavowal by relatives aggravates risk for Yangulbaev family

According to human rights defenders and Caucasian experts interviewed by the “Caucasian Knot”, relatives of the Yangulbaev family were forced to curse and threaten them, fearing for their safety, but the declaration of revenge by relatives led to real danger for members of the Yangulbaev family.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 3, the “Grozny” TV Company reported that at a rally in the village of Goity, relatives of the Yangulbaev and Musaev families and members of the Keloi teip (family clan, – note of the “Caucasian Knot) disavowed their relatives and promised to take revenge on them.

Read the “Caucasian Knot” reference material “How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov’s enemies” to find how the conflict began, what accusations Ramzan Kadyrov voiced, what the Yangulbaev family answered the leader of Chechnya, and what role in the development of the situation was played by an opposition Telegram channel.

Relatives were forced to disavow the Yangulbaev family, believes Svetlana Gannushkina, the chair of the “Civic Assistance” Committee*. “It is clear that they disavowed the relatives under a certain pressure,” the human rights defender noted.

Svetlana Gannushkina also added that the announcement of revenge by the relatives poses a real danger to the Yangulbaev family. “Before that, they were also in danger. But now they are even in much danger. If relatives talk about the need for murder, then they should be doubly afraid for their lives,” Svetlana Gannushkina said.

Alexei Malashenko, the senior researcher of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations named after E.M.Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), an author of the book “Ramzan Kadyrov: Russian politician of Caucasian nationality”, agreed with Svetlana Gannushkina. “Undoubtedly, this is the most real danger for the Yangulbaev family. Now, in the event of their death, this ‘beautiful’ explanation of their murder by the Chechen traditions will immediately appear,” Alexei Malashenko told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
