Chechen authorities: rally with curses against Yangulbaev family held spontaneously

Residents of Chechnya came to an unsanctioned rally in the centre of Grozny to follow the authorities of the republic and voice curses against the Yangulbaev family, the pro-government media reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 1, the MP, Adam Delimkhanov, posted a video in his Instagram page in which he threatened to kill the Yangulbaev family and promised to punish those who would translate his threats from the Chechen language into Russian.

The Chechen police and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Chechnya also sharply condemned the members of the Yangulbaev family; and Chechen officials cursed and insulted its members, threatening to execute them. Ramzan Kadyrov compared the members of the Yangulbaev family with Khattab and Basaev. Their indignation was caused by the statements about Kunta-Haji Kishiev; the "Grozny" TV Company has explained it, naming Ibragim Yangulbaev as the author of the scandalous audio record.

The unsanctioned rally began on the central square in Grozny, which was attended by residents of the republic, outraged by the behaviour of the Yangulbaev family, the “Chechnya Today” news agency reported at 1:26 p.m. Moscow time.

Participants of the rally came out with posters depicting members of the Yangulbaev family. “Salakh-Khadji Mezhiev, Mufti of the Chechen Republic, addressed the people who gathered on the central square. He noted that the Yangulbaev family had offended the feelings of believers by touching on the honour of revered Chechen evliyas (saints, – note of the ‘Caucasian Knot). During the rally, curses against the Yangulbaev family were heard from all sides,” the news agency reported.

The report of the state-run news agency stating that the rally was unsanctioned was ridiculed by “Caucasian Knot” reader shantell.deckow. “A rally, and even ‘unsanctioned,” takes place in the centre of Grozny! What do you think of our people? Well, such an ‘unsanctioned’ rally takes place, and the Mufti delivers speech at the rally, the police are on duty with doctors, and people are being driven away from work and school. Don’t make people laugh ... It is clear who and what is behind this ‘unsanctioned’ rally,” the “Caucasian Knot” reader wrote.
