Law enforcers break into Saidi Yangulbaev's flat in Nizhny Novgorod

Cars with Chechen license plates took away Zarema Yangulbaeva, the wife of the federal judge, Saidi Yangulbaev; the wife was unconscious. They couldn't take Yangulbaev himself, since he has the status of a federal judge, the "Committee against Torture" (CaT) reported on January 20.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 25, 2021, Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer for the North-Caucasian branch of the CaT, told about the kidnapping of his 37 relatives living in Chechnya. The next day it became known that some of them returned home. On December 28, 2021, employees of the Centre to Combat Extremism (CCE) searched Abubakar Yangulbaev's house in Pyatigorsk. Yangulbaev was then taken to the police, where he was interrogated as a witness in a case of justifying terrorism.

The federal judge, Saidi Yangulbaev, is Abubakar's father. Unknown men, who presented themselves as policemen, broke into Saidi's flat in Nizhny Novgorod, the CaT has reported on its Telegram channel.

The report says that Chechen policemen broke into the apartment; hit Abubakar in the face and beat Saidi and Zarema up. Zarema, Saidi's wife, was taken away by some seven or eight Chechen law enforcers; she lost consciousness on the stairs and was taken away by two cars with Chechen number plates.

An advocate arrived at the venue; they showed his the resolution obliging to bring Saidi Yangulbaev and his wife to Chechnya as witnesses in a criminal case. However, it turned out that they couldn't take Saidi, as he is a federal judge, the CaT has explained.
