Chechen police report about no carjacks in 2021

In 2021, not a single carjack was registered in Chechnya; and the only case of carjack was not a vehicle theft, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has stated in response to data that the republic was among the regions with a high number of carjacks.

Today in its Instagram account, the republic's MIA has reacted to the fact that Chechnya is among the regions with a relatively high increase in the number of carjacks. "The Chechen MIA is refuting the data on carjacks in 2021, cited with reference to experts of the 'Avtoteka' online service. In 2021, in the territory of the Chechen Republic not a single fact of carjacking was registered. The only case committed without the aim of carjacking was registered; within a few hours policemen found the vehicle and returned it to the owner," the MIA has stated.

Thus, the republic "was and remains the safest region in the country," the MIA has emphasized.

Earlier, experts from the "Avtoteka" service reported that Moscow and the Moscow Region, the Chechen Republic, as well as the Kursk, Irkutsk, Rostov, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod and Leningrad Regions are regarded as regions with relatively high rates of carjacks.
