Over 500 KBR residents oppose introduction of QR codes

Residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) have supported the letter of the initiative group against compulsory vaccination, the introduction of QR codes and other restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic. They stressed that such decisions should be made after extensive public discussions.

The initiative group's letter states that any restrictions on people's rights associated with vaccination are contrary to the Russian Constitution and the norms of the international law. The authors of the letter declare that they strongly disagree with the draft laws on the use of QR codes in public places and on some transport means, submitted to the State Duma of Russia. If they are accepted, it will seriously restrict people's rights, says the letter, a copy of which is at the disposal of the "Caucasian Knot".

According to the authors of the letter, these bills should go through a broad public discussion in the regions.

"Restricting people on their right of free movement, as well as compulsory vaccination, [...] are inhuman and degrading treatment, incompatible with the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms," they have stated.

The letter was signed by more than 500 KBR residents. The activists have sent it to the Public Chamber of the KBR and posted it in social networks.
