Pashinyan invites Azerbaijani authorities to sign peace treaty

Armenia has repeatedly appealed to Azerbaijan offering to sign a peace treaty, as well as to start the process of border delimitation and demarcation, but received no reaction from Baku. All the proposals remain in force, the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border aggravated. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) claimed that Armenian soldiers had attempted to capture some heights in the Kelbadjar and Lachin Districts, while the Armenian MoD accused Azerbaijan of attempting to advance its troops on the border. The hostilities were halted after talks with the head of the Russian MoD. Analysts linked the aggravation on the border with the delimitation problem. One Armenian military perished; 13 others were taken prisoners of war (POWs); the fate of 24 others remains unknown, the Armenian MoD has reported. On November 16, seven Azerbaijani servicemen perished, the Azerbaijani MoD has informed.

The trilateral statement signed by the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents, Ilham Aliev and Vladimir Putin, and the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, the text thereof was posted by the "Caucasian Knot" in the "Normative Acts" section, announces a full ceasefire and all military actions in the Karabakh conflict zone. According to the statement, Azerbaijan and Armenia are staying on the positions they occupy.

Russia has proposed delimitation and demarcation of Armenian-Azerbaijani border three times, the Premier Pashinyan has reminded.

"All the three times we agreed to move on in this process. I believe that it is not progressing because of Azerbaijan's procrastination or lack of response," the "Aysor.Am" quotes Nikol Pashinyan as saying.
