Seven Azerbaijani militaries perish in border hostilities

On November 16, seven Azerbaijani servicemen perished in clashes on the Armenian border; other 10 were wounded, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, the Azerbaijani MoD announced an attempt undertaken by Armenian militaries to capture the heights located in the border Kelbadjar and Lachin Districts. In its turn, the Armenia MoD claimed that the Azerbaijani Army was trying to move forward. Both parties reported losses suffered during the skirmishes. After negotiations of the heads of the MoDs of Armenia and Azerbaijan with Sergey Shoigu, their Russian counterpart, the hostilities were stopped. The Armenian MoD announced the death of one soldier; 13 others were taken prisoners of war (POWs); the fate of another 24 soldiers is unknown.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the Lieutenant Umud Niftaliev, the Warrant Officer Orkhan Djabbarov, the additional service junior sergeant Natig Aliev, and the soldiers Elchin Agaev, Elmin Alizade, Elchin Aliev and Murad Khalilov perished.

Since the evening of November 16, the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border has stabilized, the press release said.
