Armenian MoD reports casualties in battles at border

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reports casualties on the Armenian side in battles at the border with Azerbaijan. According to the Armenian MoD, 12 Armenian soldiers were taken prisoner.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that today, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan reported about an attempt by Armenian soldiers to seize the heights in the Kelbadjar and Lachin Districts, and the Armenian MoD accused the Azerbaijani side of attempting to advance troops on the border. Later, the parties to the conflict exchanged accusations of shelling attacks. According to the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, two Azerbaijani militaries were wounded in a shootout, and the Armenian MoD reported about four wounded Armenian soldiers.

At present, the situation on the border remains “extremely tense,” and the intensity of the fighting does not decrease, an official from the Armenian MoD reports.

Let us remind you that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan flared up in May. Yerevan then reported about the consolidation of the Azerbaijani troops in the Black Lake region on the territory of the Gegarkunik and Syunik Regions. The Azerbaijani troops reached those borders as a result of the aggravation of the Karabakh conflict in the autumn of 2020, as earlier, those two Armenian regions adjoined the “security belt” in Nagorno-Karabakh.
