Saakashvili’s associates accuse Georgian authorities of persecuting him

The Georgian authorities placed Mikhail Saakashvili in a prison hospital in order to break him psychologically and take him out of the political game, associates of the former president of the country claimed.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that starting from October 1, Mikhail Saakashvili has been on the hunger strike in the prison in Rustavi. The former president of Georgia demands to release him. On November 8, the Georgian authorities decided to transfer the politician to a prison hospital. Mikhail Saakashvili refused to be transferred to a prison hospital and demanded to place him in a private clinic. On the night of November 9, the former president of Georgia announced that he had been tricked into a prison hospital and then beaten.

Dmitry Sadzaglishvili, one of the Mikhail Saakashvili’s advocates, has called what is happening “psychological terror” on the part of the authorities. According to the advocate, the Georgian authorities want to break the politician morally and take him out of the political game. “This institution will not provide medical care at the appropriate level. There is a very high risk – psychological and physical – for Mikhail Saakashvili. The actions of the authorities demonstrate that their goal is not to protect the Mikhail Saakashvili’s life, but to make his hunger strike worse, to tighten it,” Dmitry Sadzaglishvili said on the night of November 9 on the air of the “Mtavari Arkhi” TV Channel as translated from the Georgian language by the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
