Georgian SSS reports opposition's plans to seize power by force

Supporters of Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili plan to kill one of the opposition leaders in order to trigger resonance, block government buildings, the presidential administration and the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and overthrow the government, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that oppositionists from among Saakashvili's comrades-in-arms are holding actions demanding to release him from prison, where he was placed after returning to Georgia. Saakashvili's supporters have planned another rally for November 6 to be held outside the Rustavi Prison, where the former president is kept.

Saakashvili has been on a hunger strike since October 1 demanding his release. According to his doctor, his health condition is deteriorating day after day.

Let us remind you that in Georgia, Saakashvili had been sentenced in absentia to three years in prison under the case of abuse of power when pardoning those convicted for the murder of businessman, Sandro Girgvliani, and to six years in prison under the case of beating up in 2005 of the MP, Valery Gelashvili. Besides, Saakashvili was accused of illegal border crossing and faced other charges.
