Azerbaijani border guard dies during exercises

Tural Akram oglu Akhmedov, an extended service sergeant, was fatally wounded by a grenade fragment during a field exercise held in Western Azerbaijan.

The incident occurred on November 4 during a field exercise conducted in the territory of the "Gazakh" division of the Azerbaijani State Frontier Service (SFS).

"The sergeant was wounded by a fragment while shooting from an automatic grenade launcher," the SFS' press service and the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) have informed.

The Gazakh District is located near the Armenian border. The Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliev, had ordered the SFS to take control over the military posts and military facilities situated in the Gazakh and Agstafa Districts near the Armenian border, the edition named "Report" has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on September 30, Elgun Nazarkhanly, a junior sergeant, was wounded by a mine explosion at a border checkpoint in the Zangelan District.
