Relatives of soldiers missing in action demand a meeting with Pashinyan

Participants of a protest action in front of the government building blocked traffic on the street in order to secure a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. However, the Prime Minister said he was very busy and refused to meet the protesters. The relatives of those killed and missing in action have threatened with more radical forms of protest if Nikol Pashinyan does not set a date for the meeting.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that as a result of the war in Karabakh in the autumn of 2020, the death toll in Armenia and Karabakh reached 3788 people, while 224 soldiers and 22 civilians are missing.

“A year has passed. However, there is no information about our children, and there is no progress in the case,” a relative of a missing soldier told the “Factor.am”.

The protesters also raised the issue of the war outcome. They demanded from the authorities to identify the persons responsible for the defeat in the war and bring them to justice. “Look what son I lost. I also lost my home, and now I am on the street and I have nothing because of the authorities,” a mother of a deceased soldier said.

Another female participant of the protest action said that her son had completed his military service in Karabakh six months before the war, and in accordance with the law, he should not have been taken to the war. But he went to fight as a volunteer. The woman last spoke with her son on October 2, 2020.
