In third quarter of 2021, eight persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the period from July 1 till September 30, 2021, at least eight persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. All of them were killed. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The number of the killed suspects includes seven persons involved, according to the official information, in the ranks of militants, and a suspect armed with a knife who attacked officers of the combined police detachment of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Chechnya.

The statistics cited cannot accurately reflect the number of victims. Not all the data gets into news bulletins. It is not always possible to check how true the statements of law enforcement bodies are; and new data on the events that happened during the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of statistics on the "Caucasian Knot".

In July, six people fell victim of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus - all of them were killed. Among them - five alleged members of the armed underground and one participant in the attack on the security forces. In August, no victims of the armed conflict were reported. In September, two persons fell victim to the conflict. According to the official version, both of them were militants.

In the third quarter of 2021, in Chechnya, a resident of Grozny, born in 1993, was killed during an armed conflict. He attacked with a knife the policemen who were on duty at a stationary checkpoint.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, in the period from July 1 to September 30, 2021, five persons were killed during a special operation. The National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) declared them militants.

In Dagestan, during the above-mentioned period, two suspected militants were killed in the course of a counterterrorist operation (CTO).

In the third quarter of 2021, in Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, and the Stavropol Territory, no victims to the armed conflict were reported.
