Chechen authorities restrict visiting public places by unvaccinated persons

Starting October 11, a QR code or a vaccination certificate will be required in order to enter organizations and public places in Chechnya. The unvaccinated elderly people who have not recovered from coronavirus will be allowed to visit only medical facilities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 3, the Chechen Ministry of Public Health reported on the fulfilment of the vaccination plan by 87%.

In Chechnya, the vaccination campaign against coronavirus is accompanied by severe coercion and has led to the massive spread of fake vaccination certificates, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial"* has informed.

Amid the aggravation of the epidemiological situation in Chechnya, new restrictions are being introduced, said Vakhit Usmaev, the head of the regional operative headquarters for countering COVID-19. He wrote on the Instagram that a mask mode is being introduced in public places. They will also strengthen control over compliance with self-isolation after contact with a sick person, or in case of a COVID-19 positive test.

In Chechnya, state servants (those paid from the state budget) are vaccinated under the threat of dismissal; and law enforcers take cars away from unvaccinated drivers, human rights defenders reported in July 2021.
