Activist Alamov fears for his safety after law enforcers' visit to his relatives in Chechnya

In Chechnya, law enforcers have visited the house of the parents of Magomed Alamov, the head of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT) in Northern Caucasus, and asked about his whereabouts. Such law enforcers' visits may turn into fabrication of a criminal case, Alamov fears.

"A few days ago, policemen came to my house and asked my relatives where I was; they asked for my phone number and tried in every possible way to find out information about me. Besides, they wrote down personal data of all the relatives who were at home," Magomed Alamov wrote in his Facebook page.

Earlier, there was no such law enforcers' interest in his relatives, Alamov himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

At present, the CaT is conducting two high-profile cases in Chechnya, Magomed Alamov has explained. "The most resonant cases are the disappearance and kidnapping of Salman Tepsurkaev and Movsar Umarov," he said.
