Chechen authorities combine Kadyrov's inauguration with his 45th birthday and Day of Grozny

The Chechen Parliament has appointed for today its solemn sitting dedicated to the entry of Ramzan Kadyrov, who turns 45, into the post of head of the republic. Celebrations on the occasion of the City Day are also scheduled in Grozny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to the Chechen Central Election Commission (CEC) that Kadyrov has won 99.7% of the votes at the election of the head of Chechnya. Thus, he broke his own 2016 record, when he won 97% of the votes. According to the "InterRecord", Kadyrov's result is a world record among regional leaders. In experts' opinion, Kadyrov's victory is absolutely implausible and characteristic of authoritarian regimes.

On October 5, the inauguration of the head of Chechnya coincided not only with Ramzan Kadyrov's birthday, but also with the 203rd anniversary of the city of Grozny.

According to the Mayoralty of the capital of Chechnya, about 40 events are planned in honour of the City Day, including sport competitions and concerts. Thus, in Grozny, they plan to open the largest shopping and entertainment centre in Southern of Russia – the "Grozny Mall", the "Chechnya Today" News Agency has reported.

Besides, a festive concert will take place in the city centre; and an ethnographic complex stylized as an ancient Chechen aul (village) will work.

Let us remind you that in 2019, before the pandemic, the celebration of the City Day in Grozny also coincided with Kadyrov's birthday. Then, the festive events began in the capital of Chechnya with the laying of flowers to the obelisk to Akhmat Kadyrov, and ended with a festive concert and fireworks. Sergey Chebotaryov, the Minister for North-Caucasian Matters, decorated Ramzan Kadyrov with a medal "In memory of Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov" for his "contribution into the cause" of his father.
