Historians doubt novelty of declassified materials about the execution of Jewish children from Teberda

The case of the chief physician of the Teberda Resort in the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), who was involved in the murder of Jewish children in 1942, declassified by the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau), adds nothing new to what is already known, the historians interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have stated.

The FSB has declassified the criminal case initiated against the chief physician of the Teberda Resort, who was involved in the extermination of Jewish children evacuated there from several sanatoriums of the Soviet Union.

The materials of the criminal case relate to the events of December 1942, when the fascists who occupied the Teberda Resort liquidated the Jewish children who were undergoing treatment there. "47 half-naked children aged from three to 19 were stacked in the back of a truck, one on top of the other; nurses were forbidden to give them blankets. After loading, the truck was locked and driven into the forest, where it stood for about an hour ... Sick children, suffocated with gas, subsequently were dropped into the Teberda Gorge," the FSB has stated.

It follows from the materials of the case that on Nazis' order the list of 47 children was compiled by the chief physician of the resort. After the war, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.

Ilya Altman, a co-chairman of the "Holocaust" Scientific and Enlightenment Centre, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that some of the documents declassified by the FSB are the same documents that have already been published from the funds of the State Archives of the Russian Federation. "Judging by the fact that I've read, this case adds nothing new to what we already know," he said.
