Chechen clergy join campaigning for Kadyrov

At the actions held in different districts of Chechnya with the participation of state servants, Salakh Mezhiev, the Mufti of Chechnya, and other religious leaders called to come to the polls and support the policy pursued by the current authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 19, in Chechnya, apart from elections of Russian State Duma MPs, a direct election of the head of the republic will be held. Ramzan Kadyrov was registered as a candidate for the post from the "Edinaya Rossia" (United Russia) Party. According to political analysts, the outcome of the election is foregone.

Pre-election actions were held in various districts of Chechnya. The "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) that covered the events has treated them as "citizens' gatherings." In the city of Argun, such gathering was held after a march through central streets. It was attended by elders, clergymen and state servants – pedagogical collectives. They carried flags of Russia and Chechnya and banners reading "I go to the polls."

A local Imam made a speech in the Kurchaloi District. "No need for us to sit here and make long speeches. It is enough to open one's eyes and go out into the street to understand that this chosen path is a barakat one (that is, the one blessed by God – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and that the leader who works on this path it is also a barakat. We should not even have a question for whom to vote for. We must go out and support our leader," the Imam said in the video posted on September 14 in the Instagram-public of the "Grozny" ChGTRK, which was translated by "Caucasian Knot".

Clergymen gathered in the Grozny mosque "Heart of Chechnya". Salakh Mezhiev, the republic's Mufti, has addressed them. "The fact that we have gathered like this today speaks of our unity. We must gather for the election and make our choice in the sane way. We all remember very well what happened before the path of Akhmat-Haji. We must do everything we can to continue adhering to this path, "the Mufti said in the video posted by the TV Company on September 14, which was translated by the "Caucasian Knot".
