CTO in Buynaksk District was second in Dagestan in 2021

The counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime introduce in the Buynaksk District, in which law enforcers killed two militants near the village of Talgi, was the second one in Dagestan since the start of the year.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the CTO regime was introduced in the Buynaksk District. According to the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), two militants, who refused to lay down their arms, were shot dead. The entrance to and exit from the village are blocked; there are many soldiers in it, local residents inform.

According to the calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own data and information from open sources, this CTO was the second in Dagestan in 2021.

The previous CTO was held on March 11 in Makhachkala. Then, according to law enforcers, an armed man was killed after he opened fire from his house. He has planned a terror act, as a "suicide belt" was found at the venue of the shootout, the NAC has reported.

Before the CTO in Makhachkala, in Dagestan, a special operation was conducted on February 19, 2019, in the village of Belidji, Derbent District. Then, law enforcers blocked an alleged member of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia, in a house. He was killed in a shootout.

Let us remind you that in March 2019, Magomed Baachilov, the head of the Dagestani branch of the "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard), said that not a single active member of the armed underground stayed in the region, but "a large supportive base" remained in place. The republic's armed underground has switched to the form of conspiratorial cells, experts explained.
