Supreme Court upholds verdict to Giorgi Guev

Today, the cassation court has dismissed an appeal against the verdict to Giorgi Guev, a resident of North Ossetia, who was sentenced to six years of imprisonment on the charge of financing terrorism.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 20, 2020, in Moscow, the military court found Giorgi Guev guilty of financing terrorism and sentenced him to six years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony.

The court concluded that in the period from 2015 to 2019, Giorgi Guev raised money on his bank card for further transfer to militants of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot) and to Israil Akhmednabiev, a founder of the “Mukhadjirun” Islamic foundation (Abu Umar Sasitlinsky, a well-known Dagestan preacher), put on the wanted list in a case on terrorism.

Today, the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia has considered the cassation appeal against the verdict to Giorgi Guev and upheld the verdict, advocate Soslan Batyrov reports.
