Azerbaijan rejects allegations of burning pastures at Armenian border

The information of the Armenian Ombudsman claiming that Azerbaijani soldiers deliberately set fire to pastures near the villages of Sotk and Kut in the Gegarkunik District does not correspond to reality, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The Azerbaijani military officials described the information of the Armenian side as “unsubstantiated and slanderous claim,” the “haqqin.az” reports.

Earlier, Arman Tatoyan has posted photos and videos of the burning territories and reported that was the result of arson, the “News-Armenia” reports today. “Starting from 11:00 a.m. on August 29, Azerbaijani soldiers left their tents and deliberately set fire to the territories near the villages of Sotk and Kut. During the day, the fires in the direction of the Sotk village were extinguished, while the fire near the Kut village has not been extinguished, and the fire is spreading ... I would especially note that in those places, there are pastures and meadows of residents of the villages, which are simply destroyed by fires,” reported the Armenian Ombudsman as quoted by the “haqqin.az”.

Let us remind you that on August 6, Arman Tatoyan also accused Azerbaijani soldiers of deliberately setting fire to the fields in the area of the Yeraskh village near the border with the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR). “Azerbaijani soldiers deliberately set fire to private lands, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the Yeraskh village in the Ararat District of Armenia and nearby territories,” the Armenian Ombudsman stated then.
