Russian peacekeepers guard grape pickers in Nagorno-Karabakh

Residents of the Martuni District of Nagorno-Karabakh appealed for help to the Russian peacekeeping contingent. They requested to ensure security during the harvesting of grapes near the demarcation line. The peacekeepers have cleared the area of mines and are guarding the harvest pickers, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Russian Federation reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Russian peacekeepers regularly provide security for residents of villages near the demarcation line in the Martuni District. So, on June 10, at a request from residents of the village of Chartar in the Martuni District, the Russian peacekeepers began to protect them during agricultural work in the fields.

“Since the vineyards are located near the contact line, the local residents requested the commanders of the Russian peacekeeping contingent to ensure the safety of the agricultural works,” reported Andrei Pirozhkov, the spokesman for the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

The local residents appealed to the Russian peacekeepers to ensure that the harvesting would not be disrupted, vineyard employee Araik Mkrtchyan says.
