Azerbaijan claims shelling of its positions by Armenia

Positions of the Azerbaijani Army were shelled on the border with Armenia and in Karabakh, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are periodically accusing each other of shelling. Earlier, the Azerbaijani party stated that on August 19, Armenian militaries shelled its positions in the Lachin, Kelbadjar and Tovuz Districts.

In the evening on August 20, for about five hours, Armenian militaries periodically shelled Azerbaijani positions, the Azerbaijani MoD has informed today.

According to the MoD, the shelling was conducted from sniper rifles, submachine and machine guns from the positions stationed in the settlements of Yukhary Zagaly, Gyunei and Yukhary Shordja of the Basarkecheyar District (the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), Yukhary Mekhrab of the Berd District (the Tavush Region of Armenia) in the direction of the settlements of Yellidja and Istisu of the Kelbadjar District, of Garalar of the Tovuz District and of Galakend of the Gadabay District.

"There are no losses among the personnel of the Azerbaijani Army," says the statement, translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
