Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling on NAR border

On August 9, Armenian militaries shelled the positions of Azerbaijani troops stationed in the Sadarak District of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.

Since July 14, Baku has been regularly informing about shooting on the border of the Ararat Region of Armenia with the NAR. Thus, on August 9, the Azerbaijani MoD stated that Armenian servicemen shelled the positions of Azeri militaries near the dwelling settlement of Heydarabad of the NAR's Sadarak District.

Let us remind you that Heydarabad is the administrative centre of the Sadarak District; the district executive power, police, departments of education, public health care and other institutions are located there. Over the years, Heydarabad residents have got accustomed to shooting at the border. Besides, shootouts of Armenian and Azeri militaries are being conducted away from the settlement; and people go about their daily activities, not fearing to come under fire, local residents told "Caucasian Knot" on August 2.
