ICRF to investigate non-admission of a child with autism to water park in Volzhsky
Investigators have launched a check after employees of a water park in the city of Volzhsky refused to let a family with a disabled child in. The administration of the water park explained the ban by taking care of other children on vacation, but is ready to compensate for moral damage to the family.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 2, a family from Astrakhan with a 14-year-old autistic son and a 5-year-old daughter went to the water park in Volzhsky, but employees did not let them in. According to the teenager’s mother, they were standing and waiting in the line, and her “son got autistic movements of the hands.” That fact became the reason for the refusal in the entry to the water park.
Today, Snezhana Tikhonova, the acting senior assistant to the chief of the Public Relations Division of the Investigating Department for Volgograd Region of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has informed the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the investigators had launched a check into the incident.
An owner of the water park confirmed that he made the decision not to let the disabled child. He explained his decision by the desire to take care of other children.
The administration and the owner of the water park in Volzhsky agreed to voluntarily compensate the moral damage to the family of the disabled child, reported Nina Boldyreva, Children Ombudsperson for the Volgograd Region.
Nina Boldyreva has also emphasized that she is ready to provide support in court if the family refuses the proposed compromise.
