Fellow villagers report about release of disappeared native of Chechnya

Ibragim Musaev, a resident of the Chechen village of Sernovodskoye, who disappeared in June on his way from the Magas airport after his return from Greece, is at home, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) “Memorial”* reports today.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 25, Ibragim Musaev, a 41-year-old native of the Sernovodskoye village, who sought an asylum in Greece, disappeared on his way home from the airport in Magas. Relatives of the man reported that he was kept at the Sernovodskoye ROVD (District Interior Division), but he was not listed as a detainee at the police.

Fellow villagers of Ibragim Musaev reported that he had been released and stayed with his relatives in the Chechen village of Sernovodskoye. The relatives confirm that Ibragim Musaev stays with them, everything is fine with him, but they refuse to provide more detailed information, the HRC “Memorial”* reports today.

Earlier, Ibragim Musaev arrived from Greece to Moscow. On the same day, officers of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation sent him to the Ingush airport of Magas. However, he did not get home then, and his brother appealed to the HRC “Memorial”*, the human rights defenders report on their website.

* The organization is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the “Register of non-profit organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent”.
